Hello and welcome!

I am an abstract artist creating bold, vibrant paintings from my home studio in Salisbury.

My work is largely inspired by graffiti with a particular fascination for the multiple layers of paint and vivid colour combinations. Using acrylics I explore textures and colour with a continual process of applying and removing paint in order to reveal glimpses of previous layers. I enjoy experimenting with mark-making and investigating contrasts, not only with colour but also texture, tone, line and space.

Over the years, painting for me has become a kind of escape and a chance to rediscover myself after becoming a mother. I have found that the abstract worlds created on my canvases have been powerful and uplifting. My hope is that my final pieces encapsulate this positive energy, find balance with chaos and control, and provide a thought-provoking escape for the viewer.

About me ...

Born in Bournemouth, I grew up in a small town in Hampshire with my parents and two older brothers. I spent much of my childhood drawing, painting, sculpting and generally being creative, and so it was only a natural progression for me to study art beyond school. With incredible support from my parents, I went to Art college and then on to graduate with a Fine Art degree from Bath Spa University College in 1998. Since then I ran my own art gallery for 10 years exhibiting and selling contemporary art and craft alongside my own artwork. I now live in Salisbury with my husband and two daughters, and feel so lucky to be pursuing my passion for abstract painting.
